Why The MX5400 Cab Tractor & Loader Is A Smart Buy

The MX5400HSTC Cab is built for buyers who want more PTO power, cab comfort, serious loader strength, and the heavier MX-Series chassis without buying implements they may already own. The tractor and LA1065 loader give you a strong starting point for mowing, lifting, material handling, grading, hay work, and year-round acreage jobs.

  • ✔ The MX5400 gives you the horsepower jump many buyers want.
With 54.3 engine HP and strong PTO power, this is a smart step up for buyers comparing the MX4900 but wanting more muscle for mowing, PTO-driven equipment, and future implements.
  • ✔ Cab comfort changes how often you use the tractor.
Heat and A/C matter in Kansas wind, dust, cold, and summer heat. The factory cab makes long jobs more comfortable and helps you use the tractor more days of the year.
  • ✔ LA1065 loader is built for serious material handling.
The factory-matched LA1065 loader gives the MX5400 the lift strength and reach needed for gravel, dirt, pallets, brush, logs, snow, feed, and everyday acreage chores.
  • ✔ Skid steer quick attach gives you room to grow.
The loader carrier makes it easy to swap from the bucket to pallet forks, a bale spear, grapple, snow pusher, hydraulic auger, or other skid-steer-compatible front attachments.
  • ✔ Hydrostatic transmission keeps loader work simple.
Smooth forward and reverse pedal control makes the MX5400HSTC easier to operate around buildings, pens, trailers, trees, gates, and tight areas.
  • ✔ Heavier MX chassis gives you confidence.
The MX5400 has the weight, width, and stability buyers want when lifting, grading, mowing, handling material, and working uneven Kansas ground.
  • ✔ The MX platform gives you room to add implements later.
Start with the tractor and loader now, then add the rotary cutter, box blade, grading scraper, pallet forks, grapple, or other Land Pride implements that actually fit the work you need to do.
  • ✔ R4 industrial tires are a strong fit for loader work.
R4 tires give a good balance of traction, stability, and durability on gravel, dirt, pasture edges, driveways, and mixed-use properties.
  • ✔ You are buying a tractor you can grow into.
The MX5400 Cab gives you substantial loader capacity, PTO horsepower, tractor weight, and implement flexibility without automatically moving into a larger utility tractor.

Why Buy Your MX5400 Cab From Ravenscraft Implement

  • ✔ Guidance from real experience — 3rd generation owner Dan Ravenscraft grew up around the dealership, assembling implements and working around tractors from a very young age. That lifetime of hands-on equipment experience goes into helping customers choose the right tractor instead of simply selling them a machine.
  • ✔ We help you decide if the MX5400 is actually worth stepping up to — sometimes the MX4900 is enough, and sometimes the additional PTO horsepower of the MX5400 makes considerably more sense for your acreage, mowing, PTO equipment, and long-term plans.
  • ✔ We will also tell you when the MX6000 makes more sense — if your work will regularly use the additional horsepower, we'd rather help you buy enough tractor the first time than have you wishing you had stepped up later.
  • ✔ The MX5400 hits a very useful middle ground — you get more PTO power than the MX4900 while keeping the heavy MX chassis, strong LA1065 loader platform, hydrostatic transmission, and factory cab without automatically moving to the highest-horsepower MX.
  • ✔ We look at the work you actually need the tractor to do — loader work, mowing, grading, bale handling, brush cleanup, gravel drives, pasture maintenance, pallet work, and PTO equipment all affect which tractor and setup makes the most sense.
  • ✔ Real-world implement guidance matters — pallet forks, grapples, grading scrapers, tillers, bale spears, rotary cutters, and other attachments can completely change what your MX5400 can accomplish. We'll help you determine what is worth buying now and what can wait until later.
  • ✔ Skid steer quick attach gives your tractor room to grow — easily switch from the bucket to pallet forks, a grapple, bale spear, snow attachment, or other compatible loader tools as your needs change.
  • ✔ Cab tractors tend to get used more often — heat and A/C matter in Kansas weather, especially during mowing season, winter feeding, dusty conditions, high winds, and long days doing loader work.
  • ✔ You don't have to already be a tractor expert — helping customers understand L-Series versus MX-Series tractors, loader capacity, PTO horsepower, tractor size, tire choices, ballast, and implement sizing is part of what we do every day.
  • ✔ Strong parts and service support — a large in-stock parts inventory, factory-trained technicians, and a dealership open 6 days a week help keep your equipment working after the sale.
  • ✔ Delivery within 100 miles — your MX5400 Cab can be fully assembled, serviced, tested, and delivered ready to work on your property.

MX5400 Cab Comparison Guide — Is This The Right Kubota For You?

The MX5400 Cab sits right in the middle of the MX cab lineup — more PTO power than the MX4900, without stepping all the way up to the MX6000. For many buyers, it is the sweet spot between price, comfort, loader capability, and long-term horsepower.

MX5400 Cab vs MX4900 Cab

Choose the MX4900 Cab if you want the same MX chassis, same loader platform, and strong value at a lower price. For loader work, driveway maintenance, gravel, pallets, general mowing, and normal acreage jobs, the MX4900 Cab is already a very capable tractor.

Choose the MX5400 Cab if you want more PTO horsepower and extra reserve power under load. The MX5400 makes more sense when you plan to mow heavier material, run larger PTO implements, or want more comfort margin for future attachments.

Simple way to decide: If most of your work is loader work, grading, and standard acreage maintenance, the MX4900 Cab may be the better value. If PTO performance matters more — especially rotary cutting, tilling, and heavier mowing — the MX5400 Cab is the smarter step up.

Compare MX4900 Cab Tractor & Loader Options

MX5400 Cab vs MX6000 Cab

Choose the MX5400 Cab if you want strong MX capability without paying for the highest horsepower model. You still get cab comfort, the heavy MX chassis, strong LA1065 loader performance, hydrostatic control, and a serious acreage tractor.

Choose the MX6000 Cab if you know you want maximum PTO horsepower in the MX lineup. The MX6000 is the better fit for heavier PTO work, larger cutters, more demanding hay-related jobs, and customers who regularly push equipment hard.

Simple way to decide: If the MX5400 already covers your mowing, grading, loader, and acreage needs, it is often the better value. If you know you will use the extra horsepower often, the MX6000 is the right step up.

MX5400 Cab Buyer Regrets — Things To Think About Before You Buy

The MX5400HSTC is a very capable tractor, but the tractor itself is only part of the buying decision. These are some of the choices worth thinking through now so you don't end up wishing you had configured the machine differently later.

  • ✔ Buying the MX5400 when the MX4900 would have done everything you need.
The MX4900 gives you the same basic MX-size tractor and loader platform. If your work is primarily loader work, grading, driveway maintenance, and moderate PTO work, compare the price difference before paying for horsepower you may rarely use.
  • ✔ Buying the MX5400 when you really should have stepped up to the MX6000.
The opposite can also happen. If you already know you will regularly run demanding PTO equipment, mow heavy material, or simply want the most horsepower available in the MX platform, compare the MX6000 before making your final decision.
  • ✔ Waiting too long to buy pallet forks.
Many tractor owners discover that pallet forks become one of their most-used loader attachments. They are useful for pallets, lumber, logs, fencing supplies, feed, seed, pipe, brush, and countless jobs that are awkward to do with a bucket.
  • ✔ Skipping the 3rd function if a grapple is in your future.
If you have brush, storm damage, logs, cedar trees, fence-line cleanup, or property clearing ahead of you, consider adding the 3rd function while setting up the tractor. A grapple can dramatically increase what the LA1065 loader can accomplish.
  • ✔ Underestimating the importance of rear ballast.
Loader capacity is only part of safe loader operation. Heavy bucket, pallet fork, grapple, and bale work needs proper rear ballast to improve stability, traction, steering control, and overall loader performance.
  • ✔ Choosing tires without considering how you will actually use the tractor.
Tire choice affects traction, stability, ground disturbance, ride, and durability. For many Kansas properties, R4 industrial tires are a strong all-around choice for loader work, gravel, dirt, pasture edges, and mixed-use acreage.
  • ✔ Buying implements based only on tractor horsepower.
Width, tractor weight, PTO horsepower, 3-point capacity, terrain, material being cut, and the actual job all matter. A bigger implement is not automatically a better implement.
  • ✔ Not thinking about the jobs you may have two or three years from now.
Today's mowing tractor may eventually be handling round bales, cleaning up brush, maintaining a longer driveway, moving pallets, tilling ground, or supporting livestock. Think beyond the first job when deciding how to equip the MX5400.
  • ✔ Assuming Tractor & Loader Only is automatically the least expensive way to buy.
If you know you will need a rotary cutter, box blade, quick hitch, or other implements soon, compare the complete MX5400 Cab package before buying everything separately. If you already own good implements, Tractor & Loader Only may make much more sense.
Our Advice Don't just decide whether you want an MX5400 Cab. Decide what you expect the tractor to do. Comparing the MX4900, MX5400, MX6000, loader attachments, ballast, tires, and implements before you buy is much cheaper than correcting the wrong setup afterward.
